The popular belief that the heart is a pump that solely and tirelessly pumps blood throughout our body is not entirely true. In fact, our heart is more like a DJ at the club, it generates the initial impulse and sets the rhythm, but the actual pump is generated by the contraction of our blood vessels, through their own movement and exercise! The length of our capillary system is 100, 000 km or 60 000 miles which is twice the circumference of the Earth at the equator. Our heart alone would not have enough power to pump blood such an incredible distance. That is why you should take care of your blood vessels, as they are equally as important as your heart.
