GW paid tribute to employees with music, karaoke, games, activities and food in three festivals in June.

"The festivals are a great way for GW to say thanks to its hardworking employees in a setting that enhances community spirit and incorporates the GW's values," said Chief Human Resources Officer Louis Lemieux.

This is the second year the university has held the employee appreciation festivals, which are open to all GW faculty and staff.

The first Proud to be GW festival was held for night shift employees on June 7 in the Marvin Center from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m. On June 9 a festival was held on the Virginia Science and Technology Campus from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The final festival took place June 13 on University Yard from 2 to 5 p.m.

Last year about 1,600 employees attended the festivals, where "GW values" were introduced. The values—learning, communication, community, diversity, excellence, respect, service, sustainability and teamwork—were also highlighted in this year's celebration.

The Proud to be GW festivals are sponsored by Colonial Community, a department within GW's Human Resources Division. To learn more about upcoming Colonial Community events, visit http://www.gwu.edu/hr/colonialcommunity/.
