Welcome to tcmworks.com. Today we are learning ST 36, the 36th point in the stomach meridian or zusanli (足三里) in Chinese. If you put your palm (four finger width) at the lower edge of your knee cap and one thumb's width laterally from your shin bone, you have it.
This point is super sensitive and very easy to achieve the deqi sensation. You could press the point straight down and then release, or press it in circle motions about 60 times per minute. Please put enough pressure so you can feel some heavy sensation, even a bit numbness or tingling. You could also tapping the point area with your fingers (four fingers together except the thumb) about 120 times per minute. Please use one of these techniques and alternate them each time. You could perform the stimulation every other day, five minutes on each ST 36 (right and left leg), if you are in good health. You need to do it everyday when you are feeling less than optimal.
ST 36 is a famous point for maintaining good health and achieving longevity. It is widely used for all sorts of deficiency syndromes and metabolic disorders such as low metabolism, fatigue, weight gain and problems related to blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol. This is also the #1 point for symptoms in the digestive system like poor appetite, diarrhea, bloating and constipation, etc. Thank you for watching.
