Trump changed his mind.
I record the ABC TV news every night.
This provides two advantages.
I can watch it when I want, and I can fast forward
to skip stories that do not interest me.
Lately, I have been skipping the first 5, 10, and
even 15 minutes to avoid the American Election
coverage and especially TRUMP. That guy is
just "over the top". Recently, he said women should
be punished for having an abortion. Three hours later
he said he had changed his mind ! Is this the kind of
American President the world would like, with
his finger on THE BUTTON ? As I was trying to fall asleep several night ago,
I thought, I should make a video about this situation.
Images and scenarios kept flashing
thru my mind. It was a long long night ! I need images, video, audio, and software, MS
Movie maker. The first image would be a bad
picture of Trump, very easy to find on the internet!
The next image would be a rocket, blasting off.
As I reviewed rocket images, I realized that I actually
need an image of multiple rockets blasting off, not
not really difficult to find. The third piece
would be a video segment of the USA burning.
I found an internet map of the USA, resized it,
and traced it onto letter paper with a felt pen.
You can see thru the paper to the PC screen at night.
I cut away the excess paper and threw the map
outline on a preheated electric stove burner element
while videoing it. It disappeared in a flash ! Now for the audio. I found a site that offered
free downloads of mp3 audio files. After being forced
to sign up and being jerked around for half an hour
with nothing to show for it, I give up. A second site,
the american army, provided the star spangled banner
and taps in mp3 download form in five minutes ! I integrated, edited, clipped, captioned , expanded
and lap dissolved the elements, ( after relearning the
movie maker software ). The burning map required
special attention where I had to expand by 4X
the short fire section and remove the large flare
section that overwhelmed the camera. I clipped the
star spangled banner audio so the "rockets red glare"
passage aligned with the rockets image. Caption
text proved troublesome and distracting getting the
timing and line alignment correct, resulting in misspelling
in the first version! Minor tweaking followed and I
uploaded it to youtube. I went to bed, patting myself
on the back. The next morning, I was looking at my emails and they
all looked dirty! It soon became apparent that while
tracing the map off the monitor with a felt pen,
some of the ink had leaked thru the paper and
contaminated the screen in many places. Rubbed
frantically with water. No go. Asked Google. One part
water and one part rubbing alcohol was suggested.
The ink lifted off the screen like magic 119.
It seems there is more to making a video than
one might imagine, at first glance.
