The Hammond-Whiting Amtrak station is located along the NS Chicago Line. This line is one of the busiest around chicago, with nearly 100 trains daily from 6 Class 1 railroads and Amtrak. This part of the mainline is along the old Pennsylvania Railroad, but moves over to the old New York Central east of the Station.
Train #1: CP 9547(AC4400CW) and STLH 5651(SD40-2) lead an intermodal west towards Chicago
Train #2: NS 9617(C40-9W), NS 9076(C40-9W), NS 9450(C40-9W), and NS 8441(C40-8W) lead a manifest eastbound
Train #3: NS 9156(C40-9W) and NS 2622(SD70M) lead an intermodal eastbound
Train #4: BNSF 6378(ES44AC) and BNSF 9294(SD70ACe) lead a coal drag westbound
Train #5: Amtrak P42DC's 27 on the front and 29 on the rear lead a Wolverine towards Chicago
