This is the current south end of the Crosscut MUP (multi-use path) in Tempe, Arizona. There are plans to extend the path further to the south. Currently, you take a sharp left (east) and cut through Evelyn Hallman Park, formerly known as Canal Park, past the lake, which is a kind of oasis in the desert. I cycled through here several times a few weeks apart, and each time there was a cormorant sitting on the rock in the middle of the water at the south end of the lake. This ride is covered in detail on my blog at http://onespeedgo.blogspot.com.
