This excerpt from an interview with veteran activists George Nicola and Norm Costa focuses on their memories of the Knapp and Shepherd families. Norm Costa was named one of the Queer Heroes of 2012 for his lifetime of activism and George Nicola was recently given the Community Activist Award by Northwest Pride.

In the 1970's Charles and Rita Knapp worked with Bill and Ann Shepherd to found Parents of Gays, a group which later merged with the national organization PFLAG. Charles Knapp passed away in April, 2013.
Remembrances may be made to the Charles M. Knapp Fund for New Music at First Congregational or to Fellowship of Reconciliation.
