'The Questioning City' is showing as part of Eastward Ho!, a major new collection of 100 titles weaving together a century of film and television from the BFI National Archive and the East Anglian Film Archive, welcoming the new BFI Mediatheque at Cambridge Central Library.

Cambridge is represented in 'The Questioning City' as a hive of intellectual activity, edited with a sprinting energy. Every scholar is in a rush, expressed by a great deal of frantic bicycle pedalling, to be the first to surpass historic landmarks of innovation, to better Coleridge, to go one step beyond the splitting of the atom. This glorious Technicolor documentary is narrated by Michael Redgrave. (Sarah Wood)

All titles on the BFI Films channel are preserved in the vast collections of the BFI National Archive. To find out more about the Archive visit http://www.bfi.org.uk/archive-collect...
