Local free newspaper the Examiner brought forth a new concept in the Open Homes section for the Sunday edition on August 31, 2009.

They have now joined with the local Realtor asociation: SFAR, to bring to you every open house listing on Sunday for free directly from the local MLS data.

What this means is provided every listing agent that has an open house, posts it to the MLS by Friday at Noon, it will be included in the Sunday Open Homes Section of the paper.

This is huge departure from the past 'Pay per advertisement' which has been the norm for probably as long as print media had been around. Currently we pay somewhere along the lines of $100 per open house add in the SF Chronicle.

If you are one who gets their Open Home info. from the paper, you might want to check this out.

**Update** what this does not mean however, is that if someone is not listing their home through the MLS and they choose to advertise in the paper, chances are they will only be found in the Chronicle. These could be few and far between. Especially in a buyer's market.
