There are many benefits of drinking oatmilk, according to one website, it contains 10 minerals and 15 vitamins, including calcium and twice the amount of vitamin A than cows milk. It also contains iron; one cup is 10 % of the RDA of iron! It is also super low in fat, which means totally cholesterol free!
Oat milk (makes approx. 24 oz/ 7 decilitres) Ingredients: 1 cup of rolled oats 3 cups of fresh cold water 2-4 dates, pitted (or 1-2 tbsp of maple syrup/agave) a pinch of salt (enhances flavor) optional: 1/2-1 tsp vanilla extract
Steps: 1. Soak the oats in water for min. 20 minutes or overnight 2. Drain the water after soaking, and place the oats in a blender 3. Add your dates, 3 cups of fresh water, salt and vanilla 4. Blend up, and using a fine sieve, sieve the oat milk 2-3 times to get a really smooth consistency 5. Serve up and enjoy! The milk will keep in the fridge for 4-5 days
