Things to Avoid when Pregnant
• Dyeing of one's hair
Pregnant women should not dye their hair because it contains perilous chemicals. When exposed to high doses, the chemicals present in hair dye can be harmful and this may affect the baby too. You can opt for using highlights instead because they do not contain harmful chemicals compared to hair dye. Another alternative is by using vegetable dye such as henna for coloring one's hair.

• Use the Sauna
Because of the heat in the sauna, it may raise a pregnant woman's body temperature and when it reaches 102ºF it may increase the possibility of brain and spine defects to the growing baby and can even cause miscarriage. Instead, go for the regular facials and body scrubs to relax and skin cleansing.

• Paint the Nursery
Paints contain chemicals and solvents that can be harmful and when inhaled, it can be absorbed not just by the mother but the baby too. Although the effects are still unknown, a study done by the California Birth Defects Monitoring Program showed that women are frequently exposed to solvents place their growing baby to be highly at risk of developing gastroschisis which is a condition where the stomach is open and the intestines protrude. If you plan on doing the paint job of your baby's room, it is highly recommended that you use "eco-paints" and make sure that the room is well ventilated. Don't forget to wear a mask and keep your skin protected by wearing long-sleeves and gloves.
