Today I discuss the RUF SCR 2018 by the Legendary German company RUF You may know RUF from their amazing modified 911 Porsche's and at the 2018 Geneva Motorshow this year, they brought along a revival of one of the cars that put them on the map.

In 1978, with emissions laws becoming more strict and with the need to reduce fuel consumption Porsche reduced its naturally aspirated 3 liter flat six in the 911 down to 180 hp. This left a huge gap between the base and the Turbo model which had 261 horsepower so a small German company called RUF was determined to fill that gap. With an enlarged version of the SC engine bored out to 3.2 liters it produced 217 horsepower and the RUF SCR was born. This week at the Geneva International motor show exactly 40 years later and with more than double the horsepower of the original the newest SCR was unveiled.
I'm Danny with Sideways at 11 and today we're going to take a look at the newest from RUF, the SCR 2018.
With a 4 liter naturally aspirated engine that makes 510 horsepower and 347 pound-foot of torque, it is safe to say that the SCR 2018 is much quicker than its 1978 predecessor. The SCR is specifically meant to appease those drivers who love a naturally aspirated soundtrack. The car has a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis and a full carbon fiber body-shell reinforced by an integrated roll cage and although shaped like a 90's 964, it is in fact not. This along with the fixed-back hounds-tooth Recaro seats on the interior contribute to it's lightweight coming it an only 2750 lbs. It has double wishbone push-rod suspension on both front and rear axles allowing the opportunity to exploit the cars great power and purists rejoice, it comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox with a top speed of 199 mph. To help tame all of that speed the SCR comes with carbon ceramic brakes and wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tires.
I would love to hear from you and your thoughts about the 2018 RUF SCR please let me know in the comments below and please don't forget to subscribe! See you next time.
