Notes about this video:
Lemmings committing mass suicide has been established as a myth. That's not the point of the lemming reference here. It's a connotative value of a similar behavior associate with them that is being referenced. My own reading on the subject of lemming behavior has told me that despite them not committing mass suicide, they do still follow one another off of cliffs inadvertently during massive heard style migrations. That is the connotation I referenced, here not that they were suicidal.
As for those SUPER sensitive about me saying science isn't flawless: I acknowledge in this video that the field itself does everything it possibly can to be objective, remove bias, and find true answers. My point isn't that science is a subjective field, but that the results can be. Accepting scientific findings as automatically factual and refusing to question strikes me as the opposite of what the field desires. Our knowledge of science has only become as strong as it has BECAUSE people recognized that flaws withing previously scientifically established "facts" existed. Worshiping science as absolute is anti-science. I love and appreciate the field for all that it has done and continues to do, but that doesn't mean I view everything it ever decides to be objective truth.
