It's fascinating how, basically, our brain cannot figure out itself. We are conscious about our consciousness, but cannot understand our consciousness.

+VSauce How can we "hear" our own thoughts?

+But do you mean that you Don't think through "speaking in your head", aka. using words which are more or less audible when you experience your own thoughts? Because that would be really interesting. What do you mean? But whatever the case, the fact that we think through words and numbers is actually astonishing since that all languages are completely made up by humans. It's spectacular to say the least, it also means that the amount of words we have limit what we can think, and vice versa. In other words, language is very important.
-Taikamuna My experience: When you're thinking in sentences in your head, for example. You kind of hear what you are thinking in your head because you are thinking through Words; if you were deaf, then probably maybe you'd "see" words written on paper or imagine sign language for instance - we have to ask a deaf person about that. The point is, we have sign language and a spoken one, the latter is with which we are accustomed to communicate live in situations where speaking is allowed . But of course not "hearing" concretely so that you could "shout" in your head so that you wouldn't hear anything from the outside world simultaneously, for example. If you hallucinate, you can hear and see things that are not really there - same thing. Also dreams etc, it happens all the time.
