'Poetry seen on Cowslip Sunday' was filmed in the village of Lambley, Nottinghamshire between January 1st and May 6th 2012. This film is intended as a kind of visual poem and documents the preparations and events of 'Cowslip Sunday' - the revival of a unique local 'folk celebration' of the arrival of Spring.
As well as documenting some of the work of the actors, performers and contributors to the open-air performance of a sort of 'Spring pantomime' (Lambley Jack and the Golden Stockings) that is central to Cowslip Sunday, the film also aims to provide a snapshot of the transition between Winter and Spring on the local landscape.
The music in the film is by Sheepish Grin and is used with the kind permission of John Crawford. I would also like to thank David Longford and the Lambley Arts Festival and all the performers and contributors - who are credited at the end of the film.
