The University of Sydney's new Centre for Carbon, Water and Food will deliver research, education and training needed to underpin practices and policies for sustainable management of rural land -- both public and private -- in Australia and in our major trading partners in the Asia-Pacific region.
The Centre is unique amongst Australian research institutions in its vision and mission to help keep people in rural landscapes via the development of management and policy options. Managing land for carbon and water is already one of the major global issues of the 21st century. The Centre will be internationally competitive, attracting funding, collaborations and staff, in particular through its capacity for research into maintaining and increasing productivity, and sustainable carbon and water outcomes in rural landscapes.
