I have been having artifacts on my R9 290X from Asus ( R9280X-DC2T-3GD5 ) since the day I installed it. Always stock clocked, under 70 degrees C. The artifacts in this video are from battlefield 4, but I also spotted artifacts during regular web browsing and even word processing (though they were more subtle). This card was to replace my NVidia 550 ti which plays this game flawlessly, albeit at a low frame rate.
The artifacts are more interesting toward the end, so feel free to skip around.
I've tried unplugging all non-essential peripherals, (390 watt total computer max draw on a 550 watt PSU)
I reseated the GPU after an extensive dusting of the computer. I re-flashed the most recent mobo bios, then the VBios of the GPU. Tried various settings in-game etc etc etc.
UPDATE: I returned this card because I was sick of troubleshooting and had spent hours trying to get it to work that I would have rather spent at work earning money. I ended up going for the GTX 760 and I am extremely doubtful that I will regret that decision. It is a very powerful card for a decent price. Maybe some day years from now I'll try an AMD card again, but not until the miners chill out and the price drops to a rational level.
