The current Republican Party represents a right wing block and, regardless of what many in the media may claim, there is no real moderate presence in the party. Over election cycles of distillation via primary, litmus test and policy rating, the GOP has become a pure strain of extreme right thought.
Despite this partisan distillation, many still attempt to reference "moderate" Republicans and differentiate them from the crazy right wingers--this creates a false narrative that obscures how right wing the party has become. Realistically, the only differences between "moderates" like Chris Christie and "extremists" like Ted Cruz are that the "moderates" are unwilling to use kamikaze tactics, and have the intelligence to obscure their extreme-right ideology with more palatable language.
