On Friday the 28th of September former professional footballer Curtis Woodhouse became the new light welterweight champion of England, beating Dave Ryan on points at the Magna Centre in Rotherham.

The event was a massive success from start to finish. Every bout was enthralling and the crowd were up and down on their feet throughout the whole night. Some very good young prospects from the Millennium and Ingle gyms in Rotherham performed extremely well.

The main event was the icing on the cake. For 10 rounds Woodhouse and Ryan battled it out for the vacant title and in the end the former Sheffield United footballer won the judges favour. The Driffield man fell to his knees in inside right just after having his arm raised aloft by referee John Keane.
