The PFCI team seized 4 trucks on the night of Jan 05, 2013 which were carrying a total of 124 Cattle including Calves, Buffaloes & Oxen. The Animals were being transported from the state of Andhra Pradesh to Kerala (both in southern India) for slaughter. The seizure of Trucks happened in Chennai in Tamil Nadu state, which is among the most common routes traffickers use to get the animals to Kerala. These Trucks were then handed over to the police and FIRs registered noting about 6 violations that each of these Trucks has committed. 2 Calves died because of the way they were being transported. The rest of the Cattle are now housed in shelters and are being cared for.
