Today is July 1st, 2009. We now have exactly one month before The Matrix Online goes offline forever. And so, while I'm in the process of splicing my own MxO video together from in-game tunes and Frapsed clips, I thought I'd resurrect the old MxO teasers that I've had on my hard drive for about four years: two for Zion, two for the Machines and three for the Exiles. There may have been another Zion teaser and another Machines teaser, but either I never downloaded them or they never really existed in the first place.
I'm going to miss MxO. It's the little things in that game--all the way down to little details such as working light switches, two-person emote animations, building interiors which match the layouts and dimensions of their exteriors and transparent windows which actually allow you to look outside and see who or what is there (a handy way to avoid exiting a building and walking right into an ambush)--that really mean a lot. The music is pretty good, and the combat animations are the most kinetic animations that I've ever seen in a MMOG...and will probably never see in any other.
Thanks for the memories, The Matrix Online. I'll never understand why Sony decided to kill you when Star Wars Galaxies has become a far more massive disappointment under Sony's watch....
