Engineering promotes the development of human history and acts as an inexhaustible motive force for the progress of human civilization. Engineering wonders are significant symbols of human civilization.

The emergence of the Industrial Revolution transforms human world from agricultural civilization into industrial civilization. Every major breakthrough in Engineering has significantly changed productivity and profoundly improved human lives. It also shortened the distance of time and space. Therefore, we are all part of the global village.

The World Federation of Engineering Organizations or WFEO was established in 1968 under the support and initiative of UNESCO. It brings together more than 30 million engineers from some 100 nations. For 50 years, WFEO has relentlessly promoted international engineering cooperation a key force for the progress of civilization.

Nowadays engineering innovations are developing rapidly. However, we’re still facing global challenges, such as energy shortage, environmental pollution, natural disaster, climate change, hunger and poverty, and diminishment of biodiversity, etc. It is the mission and responsibility of tens of millions of engineers around the world to address those challenges.

In the future, technological revolution and industrial revolution together with the development of human society will form a historical convergence. The progress and innovation of engineering will become an important engine to promote the development of human society. There will be a series of major innovations in such fields as energy, environment, materials, biology, modern agriculture, information and communication, modern manufacturing, space utilization and marine development. It lies in hands of engineers to extend the community of production and development, promote quality of human lives, and achieve sustainable development.

The World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO / FMOI) will continue its leadership and influence in the field of international engineering and make unremitting efforts to build a better sustainable world and create a community of communal future for human kind.
