Born of Hope is an independent feature film inspired by the Lord of the Rings and produced by Actors at Work Productions in the UK.

Thanks to Chris Bouchard and the H4G team for putting the film here. For more films by the makers of this and BoH extras please visit.

A scattered people, the descendants of storied sea kings of the ancient West, struggle to survive in a lonely wilderness as a dark force relentlessly bends its will toward their destruction. Yet amidst these valiant, desperate people, hope remains. A royal house endures unbroken from father to son.

This 70 minute original drama is set in the time before the War of the Ring and tells the story of the Dúnedain, the Rangers of the North, before the return of the King. Inspired by only a couple of paragraphs written by Tolkien in the appendices of the Lord of the Rings we follow Arathorn and Gilraen, the parents of Aragorn, from their first meeting through a turbulent time in their people's history.

Congratulations on having the most comments of any full movie on YouTube!
Please sub to us and do us a favor! My daughter (7) and I would like to go to the YouTube Place in Germany and learn more about filming. But we need 1000 viewers for it. Thank you! <3

Unsure about what it was and how it fits into the timeline or 'official' story, I looked it up and the website of the same name explains. I was in two minds as to whether to watch it or not. I did. I was impressed, and had no idea about the budget at all until I saw others' comments. O.K., the orcs needed more and better makeup and effects, and the sword-play scenes seemed to be done in what I think is called short 'shot changes' so the viewer must use his/her imagination. Once you get over that (budget issue for effects and sword choreography), it is a very engaging movie. More donations to the makers will improve those things in futue productions. I had to remind myself many times that I should not compare its production values to the Peter Jackson big budget movies, and should not try to imagine how this fits into the PJ movie timeline / sequence of events. Anyway, well done to all who made it, you did an amazing job. With more cash you will certainly do very well. Thank you for all your hard work and I look forward to watching other things you've done,
That was absolutely brilliant, I was totally soaked into the movie, I cant believe it was fan film, because it has such amazing production quality. AAA+ Fantastic work to all who participated

I was surprisingly hooked after the first 10 minutes. It's really pretty inspiring how a few dedicated people with a meager budget can make an engaging and entertaining film.  Though, at the end of the day it's all about storytelling isn't it? A cohesive story and honest acting can create a solid film even when lacking the effects and polish that a bigger budget can supply. (Hear that, Hollywood?)

Sure. it's not up to snuff if you're going to compare it to projects that cost hundreds of millions, but remember that this is an independently made movie, and on a tiny fraction of the cost. This is some amazing dedication and absolutely stunning work in that regard. Definitely going to share it!

Alright so your next project has to be with the Silmarillion. I would love and donate towards your budget if you did something with Hurin!!
