Ehsaan Ali is a weaver and a social activist. He lives in Varanasi and is in the editorial board of Karigar Nazaria. He has been with the lokavidya movement right from its beginning, in 1995. His family has suffered through the decline of the handloom industry. He is emphasizing in this video the reality of knowledge that the weavers possess and the need of a regular return on this knowledge. There is also an appeal in this to participate in the Kisan-Karigar Mahapanchayat in Varanasi on 16th October 2016 . This Mahapanchayat aims at raising the issue of respectable returns on the knowledge and work of artisans and farmers, a return which should jusiceablly and arguably be equal to the wages of a government employee.
