Note to my many critics, this video does not oppose evolution, or the teaching of evolution in schools. I defend the right of parents to teach at home, and in religious education in their churches, what they believe is necessary to their children's salvation.
Bill Nye by claiming that Creationists are holding America back is saying things that foster an unreasonable prejudice against conservative Christians, because the evidence suggests that science can thrive even if the public is ignorant or refuses to believe evolution and other scientific ideas. Liberals feel quite free to foster prejudice against groups that tend to be poor if they believe things the liberals don't. End of note to critics.
Bill Nye wants parents who don't believe in evolution to teach evolution to their kids, in spite of their belief that this will sacrifice their children's immortal souls. Asking a lot are we Bill. He argues that creationism is holding America back in spite of America's brilliant success in science. But science is we not I, and an individually ignorant society can be collectively brilliant, which is what America is doing.
Here is another video in response to the same Bill Nye video. It explains how we can encourage religious people to accept evolution within the framework of their faith. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foNIf0...
