California is in fiscal crisis and Governor Schwarzenegger has a radical plan to balance the budget by slashing government spending.

Fault Lines speaks to Ron Gochez, who teaches World History at Santee high school. A community organizer in South Central LA, he is a mentor to many of the high-school students organizing against teacher lay-offs.

"If we dont stop this now, were going to open up the floodgates, theyre going to completely destroy public education, theyre going to privatize any sort of education," he says.
