Explore Abraham Lincoln's 3 week visit to Farmington Plantation in 1841-- where he encounters slavery firsthand as a young man while visiting there with his good friend Joshua Speed. Speed and his family owned the plantation and the 60 slaves Lincoln meets and talks to while there. This visit is noted by historians as one of the keys to understanding Lincoln's views on the topic of slavery.
