On Tuesday, March 18, 2008 a group of about 75 prominent Louisville citizens gathered at the corner of Fourth Street and Muhammad Ali (originally Walnut) to mark the 50th anniversary of Thomas Merton's famous "Shining Like the Sun" epiphany, and to celebrate the renaming of that corner as Thomas Merton Square.
