More unseen footage of a talented musician. Originally shot for inclusion in "After 9, It Gets a Little Blue."
Shawnee Boyee is a traveling musician we met and adhered ourselves to. We considered him a "sister band" because everyone involved with "After 9, It Gets a Little Blue," the writers, actors, production crew and me, all loved Shawnee and his insane music. His stuff really fit our comedy and we used his music in "After 9" second only to Tom Maxwell's songs from "Sam Sara."
We invited him in to play a full set while we recorded it, but this time his infectious spirit got into all of us and the songs got more and more rambunctious with all of us interacting with Shawnee and his music.
You'll see this happen as I put up more of the songs, he jammed and played with us for over an hour that night and it was great, great fun. Two songs are in this video, the first is a rendition of his own "Farmer Pimp" and the second is a bit of ad lib and improv he does called "I Love F&%$ing Jesus."
This was at a time that I think we were all connected into being super creative and the studio is full of friends that would show up in stuff I did as the years went on. Not only Shawnee Boyee, but Matthew Anscher, Cullen Jones, Dakota Marcoplos, and Todd Heritage. Watching this vid now is like reliving a pretty good time in my life. I hope you enjoy, too!
