The latest in my growing collection of wind-up gramophones, an HMV 151. It was found in an antiques shop in Norwich for a very agreeable sum. It didn't work very well well I got it and the cabinet was very dull and neglected looking and I got it for a quick sale.

So after a bit of polishing and oiling it's in much better shape. The stop mechanism is still not quite right, it doesn't stop at the end of the record and needs a little adjustment, but it does work now. All the shiney bits polished up nice and the sound is really quite good.

This machine was one of the last cabinet wind up grampohones to be be made apparently, after this we get into motors that work by electricery and worse things involving glass tubes that glow.

The cat is Emma Houlihan.
