Here Oswald, the Loggerhead Musk Turtle devours an earthworm. He had not been eating for a couple weeks so I was worried. Then we tried giving him earthworms. The 1st earthworm, he ignored, the 2nd, he bit a couple times but did not eat, and the the 3rd worm he tore to shreds. :) We bought him a couple of crawfish to eat, but he hasnt touched them...yet. Hopefully we can capture that carnage on film. He has had several opputunities to bite the fish but he has only bit Manuel the Pleco a couple times and always in defense of a crevice or hangout spot. Our Pleco is now about 7 inches and can take it. He bullies Oswald sometimes because he likes certain areas for himself. Manuel is too big for the cave, so Oswald has made that his headquarters. Perhaps the fish in there are too big to interest him. Or maybe he leaves them alone because razorback musk turtles look for food at the bottom and tend to ignore what is going on above their head. Whatever the case, Oswald is so far a good aquarium community member. He is also prone to eating bait shrimp and tilapia, and live ghost shrimp
