removing nitrates and phosphates from your aquarium water is not that hard you will have to find a balance point in your tank. refugiums are a great thing to remove nitrates and phosphates you can use them either on freshwater or saltwater, but you need to be realistic about it. if your refugium isn't big enough to handle the load of your bioload then you will have to have a couple more legs to a table what i mean by that is, you can'r rely on one thing the other legs to the table could be a protein skimmer deep sand bed dsb water changes denitators and etc
