The "Introit" (from Latin: "introitus", entrance) is the first movement of Mozart's "Requiem Mass in D minor", K626, composed in Vienna in 1791. It was unfinished at Mozart's death, and was later completed by Franz Xaver Süssmayr. How much of the music was actually written by Mozart, is still unknown. . An autographed manuscript shows the finished and orchestrated "Introit" in Mozart's hand, as well as detailed sketches of the Kyrie and the sequence Dies irae as far as the first nine bars of "Lacrimosa". Introitus: Requiem aeternam

Latin
Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine,
et lux perpetua luceat eis.
Te decet hymnus, Deus, in Sion,
et tibi reddetur votum in Jerusalem.
Exaudi orationem meam,
ad te omnis care veniet.
Requiem aeternam dona eis, Domine,
et lux perpetua luceat eis. English
Grant them eternal rest, Lord,
and let perpetual light shine on them.
You are praised, God, in Zion,
and homage will be paid to You in Jerusalem.
Hear my prayer,
to You all flesh will come.
Grant them eternal rest, Lord,
and let perpetual light shine on them
