The Joglo
Our Joglo is a sanctuary for Yoga practitioners from various places in Jakarta and the region to practice and to learn. The Joglo from our previous location stands handsomely at our back yard with beautiful view from a heighten level and to the lush tropical garden inspires our practice. Our Yoga activities include regular practice, workshops/ teacher training and also yoga events led by local and international teachers either as part of our own LearnYoga@GG program or sponsored by our clients. Initially, Joglo@Gudang Gambar was a home to Yogaholics to practice together on weekends. Teachers were invited to run classes and workshops mainly to support our quest to learn yoga. Later on our love to yoga connected us with many yoga practitioners from different parts of the world.
At our previous location, we hosted some workshops/classes by visiting teachers such as Katy Appleton, Jo Ichihara, Daphne Tse, Bo Srey and Stephen Thomas. We also hosted yoga events such as Yoga Mala for West Sumatra, Goodbye to 2009, YogArt1, the Return of YogArt 2:Welcoming the Year of the Water Dragon, and the Demolition of Gudang Gambar party. The events invited Jakarta and Bali teachers such as Dewi Loho, Dewi Deera, Desmond Polii, Koko Marko, Fey Astora, Devi Asmarani, and Emily Kuser.
We continue to hold the Sunday Yogampang 7 am class at our new location. It is now becoming a charity class where donation is channeled to support education for street children/ orphanage. More regular classes starting April 2013: our motto: quality and affordable yoga.
We formed LearnYoga@GG to organize workshops/teacher's intensive by teachers such as Andrei Ram-Om (Self Realization immersion), Julie Dohrman (Yoga of Skillful Action: a therapeutic approach to Hatha Yoga) and Noah Maze (Yoga Krama: a teachers' intensive). All three programs are intended to serve the Yoga community, mainly the local yoga teachers, the students and to cultivate friendships and sense of community. Portion of the profit is to provide partial/full scholarship to teachers to attend our programs. We are working on registering LearnYoga@GG as a registered yoga school with a vision to serve yoga community (students and teachers) with quality and affordable yoga program.
