Did you know that Big Oil has set its sights on drilling offshore Nova Scotia?

BP, the same company responsible for the Gulf Coast disaster that saw 4.9 million barrels of oil spilled, the death of 11 workers and devastating consequences for local fisheries, economies and communities, is planning on drilling three exploratory wells this Spring. They have the approval of the Trudeau government to do it at unprecedented depths, deeper than at the Deepwater Horizon rig!

From March 20 to 22 2018 the Council of Canadians hosted a coastal speakers tour in Halifax, Shelburne and Lunenburg featuring Antonia Juhasz and Colin Sproul on the risks of offshore drilling Nova Scotia alongside a Council of Canadians representative and a local speaker.

Antonia is an investigative journalist, energy analyst and author of Black Tide: the Devastating Impact of the Gulf Oil Spill. Colin is a fifth generation lobster fisherman and spokesperson for the Bay of Fundy Inshore Fishermen's Association.

This event took place in Halifax on March 20 2018.
