A US woman who was filmed wrestling a shoe away from a boy at a charity football match at the weekend has been slammed online.

On Sunday, veteran NFL player and Dancing With The Stars winner Donald Driver walked off the field and threw one of his shoes to a boy wearing a Green Bay Packers jersey.

The boy, later found to be Stephen Wagner, manages to grab Driver's shoe before it is ripped from his hands by a woman standing next to him.

The woman has since been identified as Robyn Ereth and she has since been the target of much disgust.

Sports journalist Jen Lada, of WITI-TV in Milwaukee, tweeted: "Just witnessed most disgusting thing. @Donald_Driver80 throws shoe into stands. Grown ass woman rips it out of young boy's hands. Despicable".

Even Driver weighed in, describing the woman's behaviour as "truly disturbing".

"Had a great time at my charity softball game but I just saw a truly disturbing video of a grown woman snatching one of my cleats from the boy I threw it to in the stands," he posted on his Facebook page.

"I want to get this boy the cleats he deserves! Can you guys help me find out who he is so I can get them to him??? Thank you Packer Nation!"

Soon after, Milwaulkee Journal Sentinel reporter Tyler Dunne found out who the boy was.

"Just heard from the family again, @Donald_Driver80. Boy is Stephen Wagner. Have connect here," he tweeted to Driver.

The bad publicity didn't seem to bother Ms Ereth though, who posted a photo of herself holding the shoe on Facebook with the caption: "Donald is missing a shoe!!! Thx Donald!!!!"
