Homer L. Twigg III, M.D., FACCP, Associate Professor of Medicine and Chief, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care, Occupational and Sleep Medicine at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, presented the 2014 Nancy Middleton Smith Lecture, "The Respiratory Microbiome: More Than Just an Infectious Disease" at University of Louisville Department of Medicine Grand Rounds on March 6, 2014.

The talk focused on learning what a "microbiome" is, why study of the respiratory microbiome is so challenging and how it's measured, and understanding how a microbiome is described and analyzed, environmental factors that can influence the microbiome, and how the microbiome can influence human phenotypes and disease.
