At the time of writing, the narrow gauge Rongshan Coal Railway is closed possibly permanently. The reference to Last Trains is accurate as of 7 January 2015.
This footage shows the last ‘real’ train to run on the Rongshan Coal Railway. After seeing what we thought would be the last train on 8 November 2014, we arrived at Rongshan on 9 November to find a loco in steam. Eventually, in the afternoon, it took a short train of sand and bricks to Yujiabian (we assume this would be used to seal off the mine there). After shunting, the loco returned light engine and went on shed. This probably would have been the last train but, after 2 days with no further trains, we were able to charter two trains on 12 and 13 November. You can also see video of the final charter train (and possibly last train ever) on 13 November charter on my YouTube site. Should you want to see more of ‘The Last Days of Rongshan’, please contact me to ask about my double DVD. This features additional footage of the 4 days 8, 9, 12 and 13 November including the chimney-first runs from Yujiabian to Rongshan and also includes footage of the mine at Yujiabian. The DVD footage is without the copyright notice. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit my website www.linesiding.co.uk
