Submitted it to the Deepwater Horizon website. A form rejection letter arrived momentarily. What they are trying with robots now is like trying to thread a needle 5000 feet deep and then wondering why it doesn't work .
Simpler solution is to drape a fabric from ocean surface to the floor and allow oil to rise within the curtain. Then separate water and oil at the surface. It's a no brainer and can be implemented with a budget of couple of million. Diameter of the circle of fabric can be tens of feet to hundreds of yards.
It can be shaped not as a circle but any other to counter effects of currents. If you have ideas on how to approach the recovery team please post it or email me privately. thanks
