Timothy Donaldson is Professor of Graphic Design at Falmouth University and author of Shapes for Sounds. Timothy takes a longer look at the evolution of writing from the Egyptians until today. The story of the changing shapes of our means of written communication.

The Future of Text 2013 was a unique one day symposium at London College of Communication (LCC) concerned with the future of written communication. Hosted by the advertising programme at LCC speakers included Vint Cerf of Google, Chris Stringer of The Natural History Museum, Jonathan Taylor of The British Museum, John Baines of Oxford.

University, David Bellos of Princeton University and Tom Standage of The Economist.
Speakers presented on topics from the origins of human writing and the creation of the alphabet, to the technological and societal factors that have shaped the written word and the future of communications beyond the digital age.
