Attempt this repair at your own risk. I assume no responsibility for your efforts. This may or may not void your warranty. I do not know nor do I intend to find out. Frankly, they (Lenovo) should have solved this, and I don't feel ashamed to take matters into my own hands.
This video describes how to quickly adjust your hinges on the ThinkPad W530 to eliminate that annoying problem they sometimes have with sticking, creaking hinges. I've been seeing the story everywhere lately, and if you're like me, you need your laptop too much to send it back to them for such a repair. If you're confident in your repair abilities, you will find this pretty easy. You might wish to use a little more care than I did while doing mine, but that's because I know my abilities well enough to not break anything. I certainly don't suggest you do this powered on as I did, that was just me not wanting to miss the rest of Famly Guy.
Again, the adjustment made to the nut on the hinge is TINY. Lefty loosie, just like an ordinary bolt (dunno about the right side, mine didn't need adjustment there).
Tweak the nut, move the hinge a few times, etc. Put the internal screw back in before exercising the hinges. Once you're confident you've got it right, then you put it back together.
Good luck.
