Juan Costain, the Regional Team Leader for the World Bank Water and Sanitation Program, South Asia, notes that, despite considerable advances in many areas, India still faces significant water and sanitation challenges, including water availability and ongoing open defecation practices. As Costain describes, WSP is working with the Government on several pilot programs to address these challenges in both the rural and urban sectors.
