For over 20 years the Woodrow Wilson School has hosted the Junior Summer Institute (JSI) as part of its tradition to promote diversity in the student body and in the public service arena. Contributing to a special feature, participants in the 2009 JSI discussed the program and what students who seek to pursue graduate education in public policy and international affairs in a multicultural world may get out of this seven-week program.
JSI is structured to introduce or strengthen students' skills in economics, statistics, policy analysis, writing, public speaking and organization and time management. Participants learn methods used to analyze, implement and interpret public policy at the domestic and international levels.
