Looking to the south over the French Broad river valley, home to Asheville, NC, this is a great example of the dynamic conditions we see here in Western North Carolina - complete with a bee bum and a fire in the valley! The day starts with low clouds and fog which quickly give way to partly clouds skies midday. But - note how the mid level clouds are moving from the east while the upper-level cirrus clouds are moving from the west. As the day progresses into late afternoon, the high cirrus shield wins out and noticeably shifts from the south.
