As concerns grow regarding global climate change, so does interest in reducing the carbon emissions. A little-know but useful fix is the restoration of the carbon-storage capacity of natural ecosystems. Scientists at SageSTEP are working with land managers to restore these sagebrush ecosystems to a healthy state to minimize the spread of invasive species, to reduce the impacts of wildfire and to help mitigate CO2 emissions.
