Sarah Forbes of the World Resources Institute and Gary Spitznogle of American Electric Power talk about what communities need to consider when deciding whether to host a CCS project.
Spitznogle says people are concerned about what really happens when carbon is stored underground, rather than what goes on inside the plant. He says the company tells them how it works and why that site was suggested. He says the process starts with a town hall meeting and people are left with a phone number to call for more information. Sometimes, there are even 1-on-1 meetings with residents.
