Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire: Driving HIS Adoption with SSO & Context Management

If you build it, will they come? It may have happened in the movies, but are you willing to take that risk when it comes to the adoption and utilization of your new multi-million dollar HIS system? Adoption of clinical applications poses many challenges, including the altering of existing caregiver workflows, which may cause valuable time to be diverted away from patient care. In addition, it may force tradeoffs with regard to how to provide greater levels of both "access" and "security."

Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire, a network of clinics and hospitals dedicated to providing more than 40 specialty and subspecialty services to communities in the west-central Wisconsin region, leveraged single sign-on (SSO) and context management solutions to drive the adoption and usage of 24 core clinical applications including Cerner, McKesson, GE, and Philips among its 2,500 caregivers.

Join Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire's CIO, Brian Foster, as he outlines his strategy for deploying SSO in conjunction with an HIS roll-out and the impact it has had on caregiver usage of such applications as CPOE and other ancillary systems. Mr. Foster will share best practices for implementing Microsoft's SSO and context management solution, Vergence.
