The Summer Course for the Study of the Arts in Flanders brings to Flanders, annually, a select group of 18 national and international, highly qualified young researchers. They are presented with an intensive 11-day program of lectures, discussions, and visits related to the specific course theme within Flemish art. This theme will vary annually and will focus each year on a different art-historical period.

The first edition of the summer course was titled The age of van Eyck in context and took in 2015. The second edition, the age of Rubens in context, took place from 19 June through 29 June 2016.
It was coordinated by the Rubenianum, the Royal Museum of Fine Arts in Antwerp and the Flemish Art Collection.

The third edition is devoted to Medieval and Renaissance sculpture in the Low Countries and will take place from 18 June through 28 June 2017. It is coordinated by Museum M Leuven and the Flemish Art Collection.
