Many rifles - like the Hatsan Striker 1000S featured here - have an arrestor plate fitted on the receiver. On the one hand, a plate is useful to combat scope 'creep' (the sliding back of the scope under recoil). On the other hand, it takes up valuable dovetail real estate.
This pro-tip will apply to many rifles... and will get you back some of that valuable scope mount clamping area :)
