Footage has emerged from a modified car rally in Dublin featuring a car attempting to knock over street lights.
The video has gone viral since it was posted on the Facebook page of 98FM’s Dublin Talks, where the question was raised of whether a further clampdown by gardaí is needed on these events.
It is understood the event was filmed at an industrial estate in Ballymount on Sunday at what has been described as a ‘legal modified car meet’ on Facebook.
Concerns are growing in the local area over the “increasingly dangerous” nature of these events.
The video features a car driving at speed into street lamps, almost knocking them over, while traffic on a public road passes by.
It is unknown of the scale of the rally that is claimed to have taken place, although the car depicted in the video does not appear to be modified.
Gardaí have clamped-down on some racing events this year.
Several people were arrested earlier this year following an intelligence-led operation into unofficial modified car rallies in Clare.
Gardaí have confirmed they are investigating a collision that took place at 6.20am on Sunday morning on Ballymount Road.
